An Multidisciplinary Artist
I am a multidisciplinary artist whose work explores what it means to move through the world as an outsider. Diagnosed with high-functioning autism, I use painting, writing, dance, photography, and mixed media to translate my lived experiences into visual and embodied stories.
My work reflects themes of belonging, difference, and self-acceptance, shaped by my perspective as an autistic person navigating a society not always designed for people like me. Through my art, I invite others, especially those who feel unseen, misunderstood, or labeled, to reflect on their own identities and modes of expression.
While my work often opens conversations about autism, it is ultimately about connection: how we understand ourselves, how we are perceived, and how creative expression can bridge the space between isolation and belonging.

The DeVante Capers Gallery, led by artist DeVante Capers, is an exploration of mental health, perception, and artistic expression shaped by an autistic way of seeing and experiencing the world. The work presents a series of visual narratives drawn from lived experience, translating emotion, memory, and meaning into abstraction.
Through bold use of color, form, and texture, the portfolio celebrates individuality and the many ways perspective is formed, across culture, identity, and inner life. Each piece reflects a personal yet resonant story, inviting viewers to engage with difference not as a limitation, but as a source of insight, beauty, and connection.
